THE GRADUATE ACHIEVERS BOARD COURSE - QE1 2012
The Graduate Achievers Refresher Board Course (GARBC) is a carefully designed course for repeat candidates aimed at refreshing, improving, re-energizing and updating the candidate's knowledge in preparation for the SAICA QE 2012.
As a repeat candidate, passing the QE is a massive challenge and will require a massive, determined effort. Attending the GARBC will enable candidates to begin their preparation at the right time and will give them the guidance, motivation and knowledge required to pass the QE. We have designed a course that is geared for success.
We are pleased to announce that the GARBC will be offered in Johannesburg as well as Durban.
THE GARBC IS A FOCUSSED INTERVENTION PROGRAM AND WILL INCLUDE:
A series of 11 carefully structured CONTACT SESSIONS. (35 hours of lecture time)
Concise easy to understand summarised notes on topics included in the SAICA syllabus.
A superb question bank which includes review questions intended to bring the candidates knowledge of the applicable topic up to scratch and integrated questions that incorporate the latest changes to legislation and questions covering the important, difficult topics in the SAICA syllabus.
Included in the course material are self evaluation concept tests and tests aimed at assessing the candidate's technical knowledge and ability to discuss Accounting, Auditing, Management or Tax scenarios in a structured and logical manner.
Each lecture will focus on recent amendments to legislation and will also include a discussion of difficult and frequently examined topics.
An action plan before the commencement of the GARBC to the commencement of the Graduate Achievers Board Course (GABC) to get a candidates knowledge up to date. Certain pre-reading will be required before the official commencement of the GARBC.
THE KEY DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE GARBC ARE:
The integrated nature of lecturing which is in line with QE exam testing. During any contact session a candidate will not only be made aware of the Financial Accounting issue on hand but also the related Income Tax, Auditing and Managerial Accounting issues. The lecture time will focus heavily on important topical issues that are frequently tested in the SAICA exams.
The GARBC is an easy transition for a UNISA student from CTA to the SAICA QE without changes in methodologies and approach. Graduate Achievers runs a highly successful CTA program and therefore understands the unique needs of UNISA students. In 2010, 8 out of the top 25 UNISA CTA students attended our CTA course.
Commencement of the course at the right time. We believe that a repeat candidate needs +- 3 months to update, refresh and improve their knowledge of the syllabus (i.e. be in the same position as a first time candidate) and a month for revision. Experience has thought us that candidate's loose focus and motivation when the Board Course commences too early.
A special tutorial session. This session will replace the simulated exams in our previous Board Courses. We feel it is more effective and beneficial to conduct a tutorial session in November as candidates are not yet prepared to attempt SAICA standard exams which may lead to a loss of confidence. Simulated exams will be attempted by candidate's in our Board Course in December / January.

The cost of the Refresher Board Course is R3300 payable in 3 installments. (R1100 - on registration; R1100 - 31 OCT; R1100 19 NOV)
Discounted fee: A discounted fee of R3000 is available to candidates paying the full fee before the commencement of the course.
Discount for 5 or more students registering from the same Auditing firm: A 10% discount is available.
Discounted fee for the Graduate Achievers Board Course: Students registered for our Refresher Board Course will qualify for a 50% discount for the Graduate Achievers Board Course.

A superb question bank which includes review questions intended to bring the candidate’s knowledge of the applicable topic up to scratch and integrated questions that incorporate the latest changes to legislation and questions covering the important, difficult topics in the SAICA syllabus. 2 SAICA standard simulated exams.
A tutorial session in January which will include a discussion of the Sim exam's, last minute final issues for study and important discussion points on frequently tested topics.
The GABC is an easy transition for a UNISA student from CTA to the SAICA QE without changes in methodologies and approach.

The GABC will prepare you for the real exam and aims to cover the important aspects of the syllabus, plus exam technique, technical knowledge and the latest updates to legislation. Every year students from various Auditing firms and students from outside public practice attend the GABC and find it to be structured, organized, immensely beneficial and absolute quality.

Refresher Board Course candidates will receive a 50% discount.
Students awaiting supplementary results may register at a cost of R500. On passing the balance will be payable. In the unlikely event they are unsuccessful the R500 paid serves as a cancellation fee.
